Laboratory and Functional Testing

Blood work and other laboratory testing provide insight into how your body is functioning, support diagnosis, and help identify factors that may be contributing to your symptoms. It can also be useful for monitoring progress over time.

In many cases, standard blood work provides the information needed. When additional insight is helpful, more specialized testing may be recommended.

Laboratory testing may include:

  • General blood work, for every patient if not done in the last 6-12 months — thyroid function (TSH), ferritin/iron, CBC, blood sugar, etc.

  • Additional functional lab testing, when appropriate — including dried urine hormone testing, organic acid testing, and endocrine assessments (e.g. adrenal and cortisol/stress hormones, sex hormones)

  • Food sensitivity testing

  • SIBO testing and comprehensive digestive stool analysis

Testing is recommended based on your individual needs.
